I have received a quite nice review for The 30-Day Engagement from Foreword Reviews! Here’s an excerpt:
“Future hopes, the delicate artistry in floral arrangements, and learning to admit to one’s shortcomings and risk new beginnings all add up to a sweet love story….. In the upbeat LGBTQ+ novel The 30-Day Engagement, a contractual romance becomes an authentic one when passions ignite.”
—Foreword Reviews
I’m both pleased as punch and discombobulated, as I never expected to have any trade reviews at all, though I suppose I ought to have expected my publisher to seek some. Generally, I’ve been thinking about what I know to be true: you haven’t “made it” until you’ve received at least a couple of negative reviews. Or if you’ve made it, your marketing hasn’t reached far enough to go a little past those people who will be perfectly matched with a book. I’ve also been thinking about how to not read reviews, because I do know better and because I firmly believe reviews are reader to reader. On the writer side, I’m already on to the next thing, already stretching toward doing a little better based on the feedback I have from my editors. I’d love to hear from authors and not-authors about what you’re doing to make social media stay social, and how you’re finding ways to spend time with friends and get a break from your professional side while not completely disengaging!
But for the moment, it’s nice that I haven’t. I’m so grateful for a little nice feedback.
